IBM said Wednesday that it's bought security software company Encentuate for an undisclosed sum.
Encentuate, based in Redwood City, Calif., is a privately held company that helps companies manage passwords and access to their computer systems. IBM (NYSE: IBM) said the technology boosts productivity. It can also help companies fulfill their obligations under various regulatory requirements, including the Sarbanes-Oxley securities law and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, better known as HIPAA.
Encentuate will be folded into Tivoli, IBM's security software unit.
